The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) outlined in the Privacy Act 1988.

NOPSEMA will collect your comments and your contact information. Information submitted is required by law to be provided to the titleholder for the activity and will be used by NOPSEMA in its decision making.

Matters that are raised through the public comment process that are relevant to the environmental management of the proposed activity must be considered by the titleholder in preparing their environment plan.

In accordance with the Environment Regulations, information that is irrelevant to NOPSEMA's decision making criteria cannot be considered, such as:

• Comments that poses questions to NOPSEMA and/or the titleholder.
• Comments made through online social media channels.
• Comments that contain personal threats or profanities. NOPSEMA will take action against individuals who choose to do this if we believe there are grounds to do so.
• Statements of fundamental opposition to oil and gas activity.
• SPAM mail and/or petitions.

By providing a public comment, you acknowledge that your submission, with the exception of your personal information, may be contained in public comment reports published on NOPSEMA's website.

Personal information obtained will be stored and held in accordance with NOPSEMA’s obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and Archives Act 1983 and will not be used or disclosed without your consent, except where authorised or required by law.
