Otway Offshore Gas Victoria Project Proposal

The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) outlined in the Privacy Act 1988.

NOPSEMA collects your comments and contact information and provides it to the proponent of the offshore project proposal in accordance with the Environment Regulations.  NOPSEMA also uses this information in its decision making regarding the proposal.

Matters that are raised through the public comment process that are relevant to the environmental management of the  project must be considered by the proponent in preparing their offshore project proposal to be submitted to NOPSEMA after the pubic comment period.

In accordance with the Environment Regulations, information that is irrelevant to NOPSEMA's decision making criteria cannot be considered, such as:

• Comments that pose questions to NOPSEMA and/or the proponent.
• Comments made through online social media channels.
• Comments that contain personal threats or profanities. NOPSEMA will take action against individuals who choose to do this if we believe there are grounds to do so.
• Statements of fundamental opposition to oil and gas activity.
• SPAM mail and/or petitions.

By providing a public comment, you acknowledge that your submission, with the exception of your personal information, may be contained in the public comment summary of the offshore project proposal that will be published on NOPSEMA's website if accepted.

Personal information obtained will be stored and held in accordance with NOPSEMA’s obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and Archives Act 1983 and will not be used or disclosed without your consent, except where authorised or required by law.
